I went to the 40th birthday party of one of my college buddies this evening. It makes me wonder... What is appropriate for a 40th birthday? Mine is not too far away. I'm tired of birthday themes that even I do not remember... What would be a good birthday theme? Cy had excellent food, a pool, dancing and interesting people. I'm not sure I want to follow suit, I just want something that is equally fun.

Tomorrow morning, incredibly early, I leave for China. *sigh* Travel again. You can translate this as "She is going to be desperately lonely and bored for the next three weeks. I should email her."

I'm not a football fan, so the high point of the football season for me is the Ignore the Superbowl party every year. This year's highlight was an extended game of set (which I did NOT win overall, and I even tried!) and two of

raaga123's alcoholic cakes. Yuuuum...

I did find that the games room ignoring the superbowl was too crowded and hot midway through the party -- a surprising number of people with a lack of interest in common. So I decamped to the downstairs cooler room with people watching the game, and proceeded to continue to ignore it while beading. It worked out. I even learned enough about the game to perhaps hold a conversation about it later.
