On the Dot Game
Oct. 3rd, 2009 07:49 pmYesterday I got to play a new (to me) game. B, my college roommate, was amused to discover that sometimes I even beat her at building the dot picture. It was pattern recognition. It was building in two dimensions and sorta three. I felt it used the same mental muscles as Set.

Ignore the Superbowl!
Feb. 5th, 2007 07:54 amI'm not a football fan, so the high point of the football season for me is the Ignore the Superbowl party every year. raaga123's alcoholic cakes. Yuuuum...
I did find that the games room ignoring the superbowl was too crowded and hot midway through the party -- a surprising number of people with a lack of interest in common. So I decamped to the downstairs cooler room with people watching the game, and proceeded to continue to ignore it while beading. It worked out. I even learned enough about the game to perhaps hold a conversation about it later.
