* Airborne, and lots of it. I felt like a cold was starting up before I left and packed 6 tubes of it. I'm down by two.
* LL Bean travel alarm clock. Packs small, easy to find the time with, doesn't tick, works perfectly as a classroom clock. Tells the temperature. LOVE it.
* LL Bean travel slippers. Who exactly has been walking on these hotel floors? With what on their shoes? *shiver*
* Ginger. At worst, it is a nice snack or addition to tea. At best... It its worth more than its weight in platinum.
* Dark chocolate covered coffee beans. Better than coffee for waking me up, and doesn't give me the stomach problems I sometimes get from local coffee. I ran out two days ago. *sniff*
* Air filled lumbar support pillow from REI. Fills itself, rolls up when packed. On those long or no-pillow planes, it makes all the difference in my sitting comfort.
* Travel packets of woolite, with sink stopper. For when I'm on a 3 week trip (like now) and only packed 1 week of clothing (like now) and the hotel has pissed me off too much to pay them for their laundry service (like now). I can wash them in the sink and hang my clothes in the shower. Or like when I write with purple ink on my pale shirt, I can leave it soaking in woolite in the sink overnight....
* ziplock bags. Snack and quart size, empty. They can become ice packs (check), food bags, jewelry bags, keeping liquids in checked luggage from ruining clothing... and much more that you will not be able to imagine in advance of your trip. I packed extra and really appreciated it!
* Random small containers of over-the-counter cold medication.
* Music. In whatever form -- computer, mp3, CD. Music makes the world a more friendly place, I'm not sure why.
