Polar Wave Pool
Nov. 12th, 2009 09:46 pmI am not a water person.
raaga123 invites us to a pool party and I spend the entire time inside, clothed, reading. Lots of sun and water just do not attract me. And, ok, the water kinda scares me.
However... One of my favorite places on Earth is the Queen Mary 2... with high seas... and me in the pool. I want the seas to be high enough to drive everyone else to their cabins and make the pool vary between my waist and over my head.
So this week on the Queen Mary 2... in November, crossing the Atlantic (=cold!)...
During lunch today we sat by a window and watched people walk by in coats, their clothes and hair blowing in the wind. They looked cold. But there was this (lone) crazy old guy who came and jumped in the outdoor hot tub. he had to hold onto his hat an dshoes to keep them from blowing away. Our waiter said that the pool is heated, too.
So hours later as the waves got stronger I dragged T up to the indoor pool. Empty. NoooOOOooooooooooooOOOOOOoooooooooooOOO *deep breath*oooooooOOOOooooooooOOOOooooooooooooooooooOOOOooooooo!!!
So I proposed we go to the outside pool. T was against it in general, but allowed himself to be dragged. Wearing only swimsuits and a towel we went outside. This involved two outdoor staircases, water running over the deck under our bare feet, a fair amount of cursing and many claims by T that it was "All [my] fault."
I got in the pool and said, "it is sorta warm."
T stuck one toe in, "No way!" and went to sit in the hot tub. After about 5 minutes enjoying the waves and sprouting goosebumps in unmentionable places, I joined him. I think the walk from the pool to the hot tub was the coldest I have ever taken.
After I warmed up, the waves in the pool called me back. I went back and forth... Pool, cold scurry, hot tub, pool, cold scurry, hot tub, pool, cold scurry, hot tub. T said, "You are totally nuts."
