Halfway to the Grave, by Jeaniene Frost.

Not bad.  I was worried it would be like so many other recent vampire novels with a romance twist.  There has been a string of them that I just cannot work up the energy to like the heroine, even a little bit.  But... It was not bad.  B, possibly B+.  I liked the hero, and sometimes liked the heroine.  And only once did the heroine's choices piss me off, and I later decided that the whole dying-in-the-immediate-future meant that she had nothing to lose and could act like an idiot.

I think I will go out of my way to find the sequel.  I do not say that about all of them.  Vampires and romance alone do not entice me.

You know, you've mentioned the vampire romances a few times, and I guess I just thought they were oddities. But we went to book fair last weekend, and they now have an entire section of vampire romances. Wowza! I never would have imagined. :-)
