I've discovered A Great Truth. It is probably old news to most of the planet, but here goes: How lousy a cold makes me feel is directly connected to how much pain I'm in. Before you say "Duh!" let me continue with the thought.

Sore throat? Not so bad. Hot tea or no swallowing.

Runny nose? Sometimes inconvenient, but tissues deal with it.

Tired all the time? Suck it up. Jet lag is tiring, too.

Coughing? Hate the tickle in my throat as I try to go to sleep, but really more of an annoyance for those arround me. And hey, good ab workout.

Lost voice? Only seems to happen when I'm teaching. Sounds terrible but doesn't feel so bad.

No, my cold kicks into "It's bad, really bad. Just leave me alone." when the headache appears. The top of my head wants to come off or my sinuses decide that underneath my cheekbones is simply not enough space. NOW, now The Cold begins. *rub cheekbones*

I'd like to be alone in a warm dark room with an endless supply of hot tea, now. Is that too much to ask?

Sorry you feel bad

I always drink mint tea when I am sick because I can still sleep and it keeps me away from putting milk or cream in it. They are more likely to make you cough.

I haven't tried mint. I tend to favor the orange or lemon (which actually has the same no milk or cream result). I think the orange and lemon tea taste different (better) to me when I'm sick.

Does the mint tea taste better to you when you are sick then when you are well? I'm not opposed to mint... I'm considering trying it.

Wishing for a tea pot.... And some mint tea...

Yes, the mint tea has a cooling effect on the throat. I like the lemon tea or just hot lemonade when I am trying to clear my throat but it doesn't hurt. I also own a tiny teapot that only makes one cup. I got it in Vietnam and it is just perfect if you only want the one cup but you want it to be hot when you pour it into the cup.
