Drugged to my eyeballs is evidently the way to fly. The world has a distant fuzziness that I have to think will improve the experience of being crammed into a metal tube with 300 strangers.

Being platinum rocks! I got to use the 1st class line to check in (no echeck possible for international flights). Then my checked bag was clearly 5.5 lbs over the usual limit... No comment was even made. And then when my paranoid, "So I have aisle seats the whole way, right?" met with a "No, your 9 hour flight has you by a window." it was FIXED. Totally fixed. No insisting I deal with it later or negotiate with the other airline. I love being platinum.

yay, platinum! the benefit of all your international travel... i've enjoyed being gold, for the same reasons (altho less of the FIXED and more of the check-in/baggage advantages).
