walking in Glasgow
Jan. 27th, 2008 04:30 pmMy plans for a relaxing weekend enjoying Glasgow and the rare opportunity to spend time with
thereisnomagic worked out perfectly. On both weekend days I slept (relatively) late and then spent the day with him and his local friends. It was quite lovely. Although he was (and is) not feeling so great, and the city was windy and cold and wet... It was still lovely. We spent a lot of time in book and/or coffee shops, electronic stores, with occasional forays into clothing or bath.
They took me to an evidently famous store in Glasgow that makes custom corsets. Steel bones, custom fitted, these things are works of art. They were busy and the very nice Fiona (red headed with a lovely accent, of course) made it clear that she was more than happy to fit me if I was serious about purchasing, but that they discourage impulse buys and do not want to fit people who are not serious about purchasing. The price, made worse by the exchange rate, was outrageous.
thereisnomagic, in a completely unfair use of cell phone, called my husband for support. Without taking the phone, I told
thereisnomagic exactly what T would say. I didn't need to talk to him to know that. As a result, when I return to Scotland in March I should also be able to pick up my extremely lovely corset.
They also too me to Lush. I explored the many items that my friend E has purchased for me in the past (where does she get that stuff?) and found that they also sell solid shampoo and conditioner! In tins! I bought enough to get me through many trips of lost luggage. Yes!
There was also a great deal of alcohol... Saturday included 2 pints of cider, and 4-6 glasses of wine. Sunday it was more than a pint of a really lovely mixed drink that went by "Mad Mongolian Munchiness" or something equally difficult to remember. There was amaretto, vodka, midori, OJ and cranberry juice in it. There was a certain difficultly in walking a straight line to the train station afterward by those who consumed it. I am not actually in a position to judge my ability to walk.

corsets

Date: 2008-01-29 08:15 pm (UTC)I was interested in that as Fiona rang me up, she gave me a few more tips. "Eat before you put it on. Eat while you have it on. I cannot stress this enough. I don't care if you are about to go to a 10 course meal. EAT BEFORE YOU PUT IT ON." I have been trying ever since to figure out why. She said it is because wearing a corset it very tiring work, and you burn energy. Perhaps it is to keep the breathing option open?

Not dead yet

Did you get the Village Burning Kit through the airport?
P.S.: I did not notice you weaving or staggering.
