And today I flew!
Dec. 24th, 2007 05:14 pmI know you think "Oh, she flies all of the time! How could this be special?"
Well... Remember that T has been working on his pilot's license for the last few months? He is fascinated with the idea of me learning to fly, too. So, as a starter, he had his instructor (Justin) take me out in the 2-seater plane T is getting certified in. I am pretty sure this was my first time up in a plane this small.
T fitted me in his headphones (very comfy, noise cancelling) and they sat me in the "Captain's" chair. Justin had me work the throttle during takeoff. We flew over the land T & I bought, then we flew downtown and circled my alma mater. I took pictures. On the way back, Justin had me take the stick. He was easygoing about it, but was obviously trying to convince me that flying is not such an intimidating task. Not that I did much -- it was pretty much like "Now that I have the car set up, continue driving just like this in a straight line." And I have to think that Justin did the most gentle landing he possibly could (and yes, I would be an expert in how landings feel!) to avoid traumatizing me. *laugh*
I am not sure flying is something I want to invest time and money in learning. It has never been one of my dreams. But I am not opposed. The whole heights thing did not bother me at all.
