invisibility: my gift, my curse
Sep. 18th, 2007 08:11 pm"Could someone please come take my money?!" I am standing in front of the Gap store. I can see at least four people, none of whom seem to be employees of the store.
"Could someone PLEASE come take my money?!" Some of the people glance at me, then away.
"Hellooooo!!!!" Some of them look vaguely embarrassed. Or perhaps it is amused. I cannot tell.
"Does anyone work here?" I walk to the front door. No alarms go off. I stick my proposed purchase out the door and waggle it around. Still no alarms. I could just walk out with the damn pants and not go to this much trouble...
"HELLO!!!!!! DOES ANYONE WORK HERE?!?!?!?!?!?!??!" I am bellowing by this point. The entire store should have heard me.
A voice in the distance says, "Oh, yes, excuse me, ma'am, I'll be right there."
*sigh* There were many employees in the store. I have to think that they were either ignoring me or... well... my usual problem of being invisible. I paid with cash. I decided I didn't want to give them to chance to screw with me by knowing my name and personal information.
Super power, my ass.
