My day ( = Saturday) started well, waking early to pull weeds, pet the cat on demand, and edge.    Since I'm still a bit jet lagged from China, I have not needed an alarm to wake me for the past week.  And I'd like to mention with considerable bitterness that my gym only opens after 8am on weekends.  I pay them a lot of money to be open At All Times Convenient To Me.    *glare at gym*

About 10:30am we left for brunch at one of my favorite local restaurants, which is also kinda on the way to the airport.  It was yummy, and I got a cranberry-champagne drink.

So I was feeling slightly buzzy when T dropped me off at the airport more than three hours early.  I grabbed a well-placed electrical socket and watched DVDs.

My flight to Atlanta went fine, better after I discovered I was in first class.  Three drinks later, I arrived very buzzy in Atlanta.  Feeling paranoid about food on my flight and having enough time, I had dinner in one of the in-airport restaurants.  And yes, there was another drink.

About the drinks:  (1) They were spaced, with food, over about 6 hours.  So in spite of my low tolerance, this is not as scary as it sounds.  (2)  No need for me to drive for at least 8 hours after the last drink.  (3)  Coach class on an international flight.  So many people!  Being fuzzy and pleasantly relaxed before I get on the plane  is a GOOD thing.

So then the flight...  I took the ambien (=sleeping pill), but I should have taken the hefty painkiller way earlier than three hours into the flight.  Ow!!! Yes, my butt is feeling better, but not up to this.

So our plane reaches Shannon and circles for a while.  Bleh.  Something about weather.  I finish my book.  Then we get diverted to Dublin.    As I type this, we are being refueled and they are discussing the best time to head back to Shannon.

I'm not panicked about arriving later in Limerick, but it does have to be today (=Sunday).  *not visualizing driving from Dublin to Limerick, which is really a LONG WAY*

Note later: Was supposed to land in Shannon at about 9am.  Actually arrived about 2pm.    Think they will credit the extra miles on my frequent flier account?

Further note:  Funny how "today" encompasses both Saturday and Sunday.  Where do you draw the line when it is all just one big blur?

I would draw the line during the longest nap.

Another idea for this situation is to draw the line during Atlanta.

Or, just say this is a long day, which most other people experienced as almost two days.

The "longest nap" agrees with what most people do. They rarely consider it to be the next day when the clock reaches midnight, but rather after they go to sleep and wake up.

Also: welcome back to the EU. I have my parents visiting here as well. (Sound of Skype starting up...).
