At breakfast this morning there were two English speakers at a neighboring table. It was pretty quiet, so I shamelessly listened in on their conversation. To my extreme amusement, one asked the other his plans for the day and the response was to do "DOA." "What's that?" was followed by a not-too-unrecognizable description of a design of experiments (ahem, a DOE). I had to hide my laughter behind my coffee cup and a napkin. Then I had to firmly repress the urge to jump up and correct him (a full factorial in 5 factors with 2 levels has 32 runs, not 64, for example) or admonish him to be sure and randomize. He obviously was in the early stages of learning.

You never know who is listening.
