Now is your chance!
Jul. 26th, 2007 11:30 amIf you ever wanted to come to Texas in the summer, but were afraid of the boiling temperatures (very wise!), Now Is The Time to visit!!! Ok, bring some rain gear, but this feels like the coolest summer EVER. In daytime, it actually gets down to the 70s. The LOWER 70s. Today my car claimed it was 71 degrees IN THE DAYTIME!!! Shocking.
Ok, this pleasure does come with a down side. I've recently learned to recognize exactly what the National Weather Service interrupting a radio broadcast sounds like. It is not like I spend a great deal of time listening to the radio, so the fact that they happen often enough for me to become familiar with the sound.... Eerie. Generally this is the time of the year when we are all on water restrictions, talking about how many consecutive days with 100+ temperatures. But not this year! This year we talk about the difficulty in finding a dry stretch long enough to mow the lawn, how many feet over standard depth the lake is, whether our streets are flooded, and which low water crossings are still open.
Positively freaky.
