Age and an airplane
May. 13th, 2007 10:45 amI creak and pop more in the mornings than I used to. But then I didn't used to stretch out every morning, so perhaps it is my behavior. I notice my age and infirmities more specifically when I fly.
What I used to need before I sat down in my plane seat (um.. 20+ years ago?):
What I now need:
What I used to need before I sat down in my plane seat (um.. 20+ years ago?):
- my book
- a pillow for behind my lower back (too many sit-ups on a hardwood floor in public school)
What I now need:
- my book
- a pillow for behind my back -- now technologically much cooler than the one I used to carry.
- a bottle of water
- my mp3 player & noise canceling headphones -- even more necessary in coach or if there are nearby small children
- an expensive tailbone-friendly pillow to sit on -- yes, after two months it STILL hurts. I can sit for a few minutes without it, but not for hours.
- My PDA/cell phone -- communication, LJ posting, games and books.
- A travel shirt -- soft long sleeved button-down with two pockets for my electronics
- Travel pants -- Cargo, with lots of zippered pockets
- Packets of kleenex
- For the really long flights: a U-shaped blowup neck pillow, sleeping mask, pain killers, sleeping pills
