Ugh.

When they ask me to go overseas for a few weeks I always forget how loooong three weeks feels.  *sigh*  I just finished my first week of class, I'm contemplating how I'm going to spend a weekend alone in Ireland... but mostly what I'm thinking about is how much I wish I were home.
I'm exercising every day -- I'm up to 48 floors as of this morning.  This weekend I actually plan on using a gym.  I keep expecting some weekday to have a security guy or a manager appear on the stairs and ask me to please STOP wearing down their stairs... *laugh*

My thoughts on what to do this weekend include perhaps the Ring of Kerry, Galway, and/or the Cliffs of Mohr.  I've got another weekend for whatever I miss to spill over.

I've trained this hotel pretty well.  When I go in for breakfast I am never asked for my room number -- instead, she greets me by name.  *laugh*  This morning they forgot my pot of tea (leading to yawns for the first 2 hours of class), but my eggs came out perfectly and promptly.   I should probably cut down on the caffeine anyway, since my jet lag is mostly done.

This trip I am actually appreciating the weather (chilly, but not too wet or windy) and the fact that my hotel is on a quite pretty river.  For the past few nights I've walked along the water -- it was really lovely with the lights shining off it.  Peaceful.

You call that whining? Exercising, doing touristy things, getting just the right eggs, and having good weather? Sorry, you've done a very bad job.

I'm trying to pay attention to the silver lining. It is a very thin edge, but ... *rueful grin*

I know it's hard to remember when you're far away and homesick, but it really does sound like yours is a better life than spending all day looking at the same four walls every day. Baltimore is a bizarre torture machine made of ice right now--really, it's like what Jayna, the girl Wonder Twin, would have turned into if you gave her the brain of Uday Hussein--so I'm not likely to get out at all this weekend, while you're off adventuring in places that sound downright Tolkeinesque. Anyway, if you ever want company on your missions for the CIA^H^H^HDell, just let me know.

I know, I know. Adventure is better than cubical walls. Or regular walls. Still, I miss T. And my cat. And T says that today's weather was lovely and he took SS out for a spin with the top down.... *wistful sigh*

And now that you mention it, yes, I would like company on my "missions." How much vacation ya got?

*hug*

congratulations on the exercising! it helps keep me sane on the road, too.

ooh, cliffs of mohr...

nice that you've got the hotel staff greeting you by name. it helps to have someone who sees you as a person, rather than just another guest.

go you for getting out and visiting the river and enjoying the peacefulness!
