5am -- Too early, go back to sleep.

5:10am -- Ok, fine.  Get up.  Connect to the internet. Start playing music -- mp3s on my computer.

5:20am -- Put on workout clothes and walk the stairs.  Fifteen floors.  The gym opens at 7am, but the stairs are always available.  It takes 6 floors for me to start to sweat.  9 floors for me to start breathing hard.

5:45am -- Back to my room, shower. Turn off the TV, which is trying to tell me it is time to wake up. Answer an email or two.

6:30am -- Call the front desk.  A newbie answers.  The experienced ones greet me by name now.  Explain that at 7am, I want two fried eggs waiting for me in the restaurant.  ...Realize that he is assuring me that breakfast starts at 7am.  Thank him and convince him that, yes, I do want him to actually do something.  "Go tell the cook that I want two fried eggs. Very, very well done.  Just like yesterday.  Yesterday was perfect."  Repeat twice.  He seems to understand.

6:55am -- Panic at the time.  Grab my briefcase and coat and head downstairs.

7am -- The dining room is still dark.

7:01am -- Standing outside the dining room.  Still dark.  Tap foot.  Say a few impatient words.  ....Ah, lights!  Open the door, walk in.  Put down coat.  Grab a plate and head for the hot buffet...  Am met by a waitress with my eggs.  Perfect.  No one asks me for my room number.

7:15am -- Chug the last tea I can hold, shrug back on coat and head for the door.  Wrap my scarf/wrap/blanket around my throat before stepping out into the dark, cold, wet morning.  Am immediately thankful for the scarf.

7:20am -- Start up tiny rental car.  "Drive on the left."  Make 5 point turn to make it out of insanely tiny parking space.  Slowly creep out of parking garage, remembering that tiny size of car only HELPS in not scraping the sides of the tires in the ridiculously narrow Car Park.  "Drive on the left!"  Want to turn right out of the drive way?  Turn left instead.  Go around roundabout to do a U turn.  Remember to not drive into oncoming traffic coming from the right.

7:35am -- Arrive at work.  Reminder:  Try to see sunlight today.

12:30pm -- Give students lunch break.  Decide that the quest for protein is too much trouble in the canteen (cafeteria), and instead spend the time chatting with a fellow instructor.

12:57pm -- Arrange my hair so the headache will stop.

1:01pm  -- Call my husband.

1:15pm --  Restart the class.

4pm -- End class for the day.  Students are pleased with the early stop time.  Give a student a lift (not a "ride"!) back to the hotel.  "Drive on the left!"  Try not to slam on the brakes too often...  I know he will tell class tomorrow if I freak him out (and I'll deserve it).

4:45pm -- Change clothes, check internet.  Write this post.  Think longingly of going to bed early.  Watch the rain on my hotel window.
