The Birthday Weekend 2017
Nov. 20th, 2017 03:23 pmThe weekend before Thanksgiving is when we generally celebrate. This was T's year. No costumes. Culinary guilty pleasures and a Galaga contest! I made a very alcoholic chocolate maple cake, with fresh whipped cream on the side.
Friday we went over to L&D's so that T could collect on the bet. Something about how much he could lift vs both workout buddies D&E. T beat their combined lift, so D owed T a margarita. D picked the place, but T seemed to feel no compunction about ordering the most expensive margarita in the place. It looked pretty tasty... So we hung out, watched the most recent Orville, and did a bit of hot tubbing. It was nice.
Saturday I painted another picture. This seems to be a trend with me this weekend. I also painted Friday and Sunday. I have a collection of drying canvases! We did party prep. I got a brief nap. The party went well. The Galaga contest was surprisingly hotly contested. The final two were clearly better than the rest of us, but it was a tough fight between them. I loved my friend B's stories about the life history of the enemy fighters being destroyed. "Ah, so sad. This was to be his final mission. He leaves behind four children and a dog."
Sunday we did party cleanup and mellowed out. It was my birthday observed. We had crepes at what turned out to be a street cart (google maps said they were the crepe place that was open the latest). Then at 7pm we went on a ghost segway tour. I got to hear a few new stories about my local downtown. But most importantly...I got to ride a segway for two hours. LOVE the segway.... It was a bit chilly but totally worth it.

Thanks for having a party! It was fun talking to people I rarely get to see.
