The long weekend at home was lovely. Lots of sleeping in, a ton of yardwork.

T & I both pulled weeds every morning. The sad part is that we can hardly see a difference. We are mostly targeting the Evil plants. There is one that sticks. Several days I've returned with a layer of green over my pants and shirt that simply will not come off. It doesn't hurt when I try to pull it off with my fingers, but the green bits come apart. So I only get a tiny bit at a time. T has taken to weeding with a shovel. He targets the plants with the worst spines. The tiny needles go straight through our leather gardening gloves and contain a poison that immediately starts painful itching upon contact. Fun!

And let me make a few comments about weather and Texas sun. I. HATE. Summer. HATE IT!!! I've met a few (crazy) people who live here and like Summer weather, but most of us agree it is to be avoided. Understand that even when we start pulling weeds as early as we get up, it is usually at least in the mid-90s by the time we quit yardwork for the day. We both wear long pants, sturdy shoes, long sleeves, sturdy gloves, hats and sunscreen. LONG pants and LONG sleeved shirt. In the heat. We both favor quick-dry pants and shirt, but the long pants and shirt are both to avoid the evil plants and the evil sun. Dehydration is a serious challenge. It worries both of us when we drink multiple bottles of water and yet don't have to enter the house to use the bathroom. The dehydration issue comes up every single day we do yardwork.

T has finally been putting together his office. He has wanted glass enclosed shelves for his many legos. He wants to minimize the amount of dust. With the help of IKEA, he is looking pretty happy and has been unpacking a bunch of moving boxes.

It was our first July 4th in this house. We are outside the city limits. Which evidently means EVERYBODY does fireworks. When the sun went down, we took our collection of fireworks outside with chairs and bugspray. T started setting off his fireworks... and our next door neighbor evidently invested more money in his. So I was enjoying both shows, as well as 4 additional shows over the trees. T went through most of his fireworks, then walked over to donate the rest to the neighbor. On his way back, he discovered that we can see the local town fireworks from our yard! I think all told I enjoyed at least 8 impressive fireworks shows without leaving our land. Yay, no fighting traffic! Next year, T wants to make a party of it.

This weekend was so relaxing, I pulled out my beads and started making jewelry again. Yay, art! We are rewatching Westworld season 1. I expect we will have finished the season before this coming Monday. There were so many mind-blowing reveals at the end, we had to rewatch the entire season with the new information to see everything from a different perspective. This part (the relaxing and art) has long been my goal for post-moving experience.

I'm sorry about the weeding and the heat, but the rest of the post is happy-making. I'm glad you got some time to chill and enjoy the shows.

My credit card and I have a few dates with IKEA coming up. We close tomorrow...
