A relaxing evening
Mar. 15th, 2017 12:45 pmLast night I quit work only a bit after the usual time. It was a bit mesmerising to watch T out the window on the neighbor's tractor mowing the weeds near the road. He was shocked at how much land (and long grass!) we have out there. It was a huge tractor trailing a mower, and it still took surprisingly long for such a tiny section of our otherwise grass-less land.
So then I started dinner. We've been buying ingredients and recipes from HomeChef (overpriced, but it does mean we eat more cheaply at home than we would eating out. And I'm accumulating recipies that are both healthy and we like.). T came in for dinner looking exhausted. He said, "Let's relax in front of the TV for the rest of the night."
So he did. I sat next to him and did my brother's taxes. It took me just shy of 4 hours.
*sigh*
The brother's stupid taxes were easy (1040EZ, according to Turbo Tax). But then there were the state taxes with the list of weird questions (as a Texan, I don't do state taxes usually, so it is all weird questions.). And that at least doubled the time. Not counting the confusing act of doing taxes for a dead person in which the questions are phrased as "Do you...." but sometimes they mean him and sometimes they actually mean me. And they never specify! Ugh.
So it was NOT a relaxing evening. That was hyperbole.
Yes, I'm almost done with my brother's paperwork. Almost. So close. But almost is not DONE. And I still have another round of paperwork with the lawyer and the other heir to go through.
