Where to have a sunburn
Feb. 20th, 2017 01:36 pmSaturday was another day on yard work.
T borrowed a small earth mover from our builder and spent the day riding around moving the dirt that we have been trying unsuccessfully to pay other people to move for 4 months.

No, I have no idea why they won't take our money. I get the feeling that we are very low priority. He flattened out the terrible area to one side of the hanger that looked like a bad moon landing movie was being set there. He dug out a drainage ditch for our front downspout (now connected to a PVC pipe going under the driveway!) and dumped lots of dirt in the spots in front of the windows that collect huge pools of water during every rainstorm.
While he did that, I took a trash can and a picker (my name for the plastic arm extender thingy) and picked up 3 bags of trash. Mostly nails and strips of metal. Yes, I know the builder is supposed to pick up this stuff. But they didn't. I managed to rake flat the first 2 earthmover dumps in front of the windows... but ran out of energy after ~4 hours.
And then I discovered that my sunscreen efforts had been less than perfectly effective. And I also found my favorite place to have a sunburn.
But first, my list of NOT favorite places to be sunburned:

But first, my list of NOT favorite places to be sunburned:
- Top of the foot. Forget shoes! Even sandles rub it painfully.
- Top of shoulders. Every strap and shirt hurts. But our society is oddly picky about women going topless. *sigh*
- Backs of the hands. I tend to stick my hands in my pockets without thinking.... Which means I'm constantly rubbing it. Gah.
- Tops of the thighs (gotten from a canoe trip in my teens). Pants of every type just hurt.
- Face. Everyone stares at you like a freak. *sigh*
- Scalp. Brushing hair hurts so much! And how can you treat it? Through the hair? Yuck.
- Forearms, next to the elbows. Which is exactly the spot I lean on every table and desk. Which means working is really horrible for days.
