Yesterday pushed all my "I hate change" buttons.

The electricians came to fix the remaining items on the punch list. Which is good, but... Somehow they managed to knock out the internet. Not the electricity, just the internet. It took hours to come back. In the meantime, we were communicating with the world only on our cell phones (which becomes an important point later).

The ditch guy came to dig out the drainage. Which is good... but quite distracting and disconcerting to watch the heavy equipment out my window. He asked where the markers for the water lines were (a neighbor called on Monday for them to come mark the water lines). I called. The water company said, "Really? Monday? We have no record of that." ... They went away while the internet went out... They called back to say the guy was on his way. There was a knock on the front door. It was the ditch guy... he had hit the water line. It was spraying 5 feet in the air above the ditch. I called the water people back. "Tell him to hurry. We have No Idea where the swtichoff is for the water. We have all searched and cannot turn off the water!"

So no water. And no internet.

And then the boxes we were expecting arrived. Our new cell phones to cut our cell bill in half ($145 down to $75 for both of us). You know how our old cell phones were being our only link to the outside world? Yeah. The replacement for those. And we couldn't figure out which sim card went to which phone (stupid unlabeled packaging!). So my job (since I couldn't work, no internet) was to figure out which sim card belongs to which phone. So I use my old cell phone to call the new provider....

I can't say it was a BAD day. It was just a day full of changes that are good... but I hated the process. Still hate the process. My old cell phone is thoroughly disconnected. And my new cell phone is still not  taking or making calls. The provider says we have another 24 hours before we should worry about the transfer of my cell phone number not happening....

So, yes, pretty much most things were fixed by this morning. We have water. I currently have the internet. I do not have a working cell phone, but I figure that will change as the hours pass. And late this morning I figured out how to move my Note Everything notes from my old cell phone to the new one (2+ hours of frustration last night). So things are moving in a positive direction.

Though the ditch guy just came to the door and asked where the electric lines run.... because they are also supposed to be marked. And they are not. *doooooooooom*

Oh, I am so behind in my reading. I hope all of these issues have been resolved by now, but your Saturday post implies not. :-(
