vacation: productive

This has not been the worst Christmas vacation I've ever had. But it is certainly in the top five.

I took off 1 week of vacation plus the week between Christmas and New Years as a holiday. About the best thing was that I didn't have to get up at a regular time... But the sun through our windows has woken me up before 8am most mornings. Yes, I have a lovely eye mask, it helps but does not prevent the sun from waking me. Someday we will have blinds... but though that day was supposed to be Dec 17, it is still at some indefinate point in the future (thank you Home Depot, for giving us the runaround and NOT giving us the blinds for the master bedroom).

T worked the week before Christmas, but also took the holiday week with me. Between us, we worked hard at both houses.

Old house

• Pulled up caulk (mostly me, but some T)


• Caulked (T)


• Pulled nails, spackled holes (me)


• Touch up paint (mostly T, some me)


• Textured walls before the touch-up paint (T)


• Installed dryer vent (T)


• Vacuummed house (T)


• Shampooed house carpet (T)


• Landscaping: Pulled and rearranged decorative bricks (T & me)


• Mowed lawn (me)


• Powerwashed front & back porches (T)


• Cleaned frig, firepace, all mirrors, all windows, sinks, bathrooms, master shower (D)

New house

• Sealed grout (mostly T, but me in the corners with a paintbrush)


• Caulked and patched caulk (T)


• Painted/sealed tile edge in fancy bathroom (me)


• Hung art (T & me)


• Unpacked many many many boxes (me)


• Picked up 5 bags of construction trash on land (me)


• Party prep for our New Years/housewarming party (T & me)

I think I need another week of vacation just to sleep.
