small revenge
Nov. 4th, 2016 02:19 pmI am unhappy with my coworkers. I really really really wanted to go to a conference a few months ago. It was for my primary statistical package. I go almost every year. It is a great place to learn about the new version of the software, new statistics techniques and just networking. My coworkers said no. "We cannot financially justify your presence." blah, blah. Their focus was clearly on "if you presence does not make us money, you cannot go." Three of them went. One of them spent the entire conference in his hotel room talking (over his computer) to a customer. He should have stayed home, clearly.
I'm still mad about it.
I know it is passive-aggressive, but I have signed up for 1-2 hours of online training in the software every week though the end of the year. I've been attending these sessions for weeks. If I had gone to the conference, I would not have signed up for these. I'm not sure my coworkers have noticed, though it is on my work calendar.
