selling on ebay
May. 25th, 2016 07:44 pmOver the past 10 or so years, I've occasionally bought things on ebay. It has been a pretty straightforward process.
But I recently tried to sell my first item on ebay. The ebay side was... organized. Smooth. But... I kept getting messages from people potentially bidding on my item that were variations of "Would you just sell it to me directly for less instead of going through this auction?" which seems kinda slimy and against the whole purpose of an ebay auction.
So then the auction ended and I had a buyer. It seemed like a reasonable price, so I was pretty happy, packed up the item. But ebay told me to wait until the payment came in. I emailed back and forth with the buyer. The payment looked like it was coming in as a "Paypal check," whatever that is. And it would take a week. So I waited a week. Ebay said we are still awating payment. And paypal said that the payment had been both accepted... and cancelled. I called Paypal directly, who said that it had been cancelled on the buyer's end. I emailed the buyer.... no response. I went back into the ebay system and put in a claim that there had been no payment. More days of waiting. No response from the buyer.
It seems like the buyer was hoping that I would send the item with no payment.
So I've relisted it on ebay. I just feel like this should have been a simple process as outlined by ebay. But the humans keep trying to.... circumvent. And now it is painful and annoying.
Bleh.
