Peacefully weekending -- a meander
Apr. 25th, 2016 01:09 pmI was home for the weekend. Yay, sleeping in my own bed!
Friday I prioritized "spending time with husband" over work in the afternoon and went back to work when he went to gaming for the evening. I think it was a good decision. Though it did mean that I spent the weekend with the puzzle of my current data analysis in the back of my brain.... But the advantage there was that this morning I had a list of ideas on where to start. So Friday evening was very quiet.
Saturday and Sunday we spent about 5 hours on yardwork. For a tiny yard, it takes a lot of time! I'm still bitter that our next door neighbor decided that 8am was the Time To Mow. Ugh. T always yells at me for mowing on weekends before 10am.... Why don't other people listen to him?!
We are almost ready to cut the paying-for-TV cord. I'm pretty excited. We spent a chunk of the weekend binge-watching the things on our DVR that we really really want to see before we cut that cord. It is a small and totally doable list of shows to watch. Perhaps in another few days I can listen to T making that call. He says that the worst company for "Cancel it!" take 25 minutes on average to actually cancel something. Since he spent so many years in tech support, I'm going to time him... He clearly thinks that his knowledge of similar systems will make it faster for him.
I finally managed to actually successfully wipe my brother G's mac airbook in preparation for selling it. Ugh! 15 different sets of directions, all confusing and conflicting. Grr. But I'm finally convinced that the silly thing is WIPED and ready for a new owner.
As of today, I made the final big step in posting G's remaining car for sale. It is an upgraded miata, and I am purchasing to-sell space on the folks who did the upgrade. So people looking for a pimped-out 1990 miata will go to them.... and find his listing! Plus they can help me out with an estimate on how much I should sell it for. Win-win!
Sunday I got a call from the realtor of G's house. We have an offer! It is (of course!) for lower than the asking price. So on the realtor's advice I said "yes, but...." and put in a bunch of caveots like "no seller discloser" and "as-is, no repairs" and the buyer pays the inspection and fees. We'll see what happens. I have High Hopes that it may sell and take another huge weight off my shoulders.
Once the car and house sell, then I can start paying out to creditors. That would be nice. I don't actually enjoy sending out the generic letter. The Estate of.... acknowledges your claim to be a creditor. Your claim is classified as a Tier ___. We are waiting on the sale of property before claims to your tier are paid out. Please be patient.
