It was a rental car fail. I spent TWO HOURS AND FORTY FIVE minutes trying to pick up my rental car last Sunday in San Francisco. In line. Seriously. One hundred and sixty five utterly wasted minutes. It makes me feel much better about being totally ditched by [livejournal.com profile] tiger_stripes. It proves she has some sort of precognition, because I would never have made it to any sort of dinner plans Sunday. And I might have actually blown a gasket at the rental car people trying to make a dinner date instead of simply smoldering and vowing never to rent from them again. I SO hope they send me one of their surveys!!! Oh, yes, I'll be HAPPY to answer a few questions about my rental car experience in San Francisco last week... Let's see, what is the lowest score you can get again?

So the weather in California is, as usual, gorgeous. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] texpenguin, I actually briefly SAW it Thursday night for the first time. She let me walk her cat. On a leash. I have pictures as proof! It really happened! The cat wasn't actully any more challenging to walk than a small dog (says my vague memory of walking my dog in my teen years). He wanted to sniff strange things, but dogs do that too. He was really mellow about the whole idea of a leash. We even walked by fenced-in barking dogs with no more than him attempting to go the other direction!

For the weather part, I'm not looking forward to returning to the misery of scorching Texas. However, it would be nice to stop standing on my feet for 11 continuous hours a day teaching. *ugh* My feet hurt. My legs hurt. And I soaked them in an entire container of epsum salts (spread over the whole week, of course) every night! Yeah, I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed, seeing the peaceful quiet of my own house. My students were awesome this week, but it would be nice to get back to the quiet.

Indeed. Mom is up in the mountains again this month, telling me all about her walks, outdoor dining, and putt-putt golf expeditions.
