Untied Flying
Feb. 25th, 2015 12:15 pmA week ago, our very early morning flight (4:30am wakeup) out of our home airport had some mechanical problem. It was delayed to the point we assumed it would never fly. They put us on another set of flights that got us into Canada 4.5 hours late. If we could have spent those hours asleep, it would have been a much more pleasant experience. Instead we just spent them sitting in our airport, waiting.
Today we woke up at 3:30am to make our 6:30am flight. Which had mechanical difficulties. *sigh* On the current plan, we should reach our home airport 7 hours late. Ugh.
Mechanical NOT WEATHER breakdowns. Same airline. While I am generally hesitant to suggest that two data points make a trend, two REALLY ANNOYING data points should count as a trend.
Most of these 7 hours are spent waiting. J is the bright spot, hanging out to talk with us. We haven't even bothered going through security and immigration.
Ah, to be sleeping.
...Later.... Untied and the airline they set us up on cannot get their story straight. So far they have me (not T) flying out of Toronto (not our current location) to PHL. And presumably a flight from there to home. Aaaargh!
...Still later... It took an HOUR for them to sort themselves out and give us the boarding passes for the flights we thought we were checking in for. T and I were both grateful that we started attempting to get boarding passes and check luggage as early as we did. Yes, we are paranoid when it comes to flights. This is not a bad thing.
