the Cabin In the Woods

indigo_rose99I don't like horror movies. I've never seen movies with Jason or Freddie. Even the lure of Joss Whedon could not make me want to see this movie.
But then we were planning our 2015 vacations. And Feb was a long weekend in Canada. J&P rented a cabin in the woods.
So clearly we had to watch the movie before we left for Canada. I probably missed half the references because I had not seen classic horror films. It was still.... entertaining. I think we enjoyed it.
We flew to Canada yesterday. P&J put us up for the night, then all four of us drove to the cabin. The cabin is spectacular. Driving in, the roads were clear, though the woods were filled with snow. Snow! I haven't seen snow since a brief business trip to Connecticut back in Jan 2014. It was exotic and beautiful.
The cabin, among many other lovely features, has a basement.
I categorically refused to go down into the basement.
Because going down into the basement is where all of the trouble starts.
