If you are not female, you probably do not care about this.

So the doctor tells me that I am pre-menopausal. My parts are still working, I could still have children (thank you,no), but some bits are starting to annoy me. Like waking up covered in sweat every morning. So on my doctor's advice, about a year and a half ago I went on a fix-symptoms over the counter daily drug. About two months ago, it stopped working. On random person's advice, I searched for another brand in the hope that hopping brands would help. Nope!

So yesterday I asked a pharmacist. Who turned out to be female, older than me, and completely sympathetic. She told me to go back on my doctor's over-the-counter recommendation and to add Soy Isoflavones. Ok... Not something I would have thought of. She told me to talk to my doctor, but that I can expect this to only help for another couple of years. *sigh*

I did a bit of research. The internet has very mixed feelings on soy as a solution. I do notice that the articles against it are generally based on single studies. When looking at evaluation of multiple studies (mmmm... yummy metastudies...), the evidence is not overwhelming, but it is in favor of soy.1 2 3 And what I do notice about the other websites that recommend other things? Yeah, I could add more Omega-3 to my diet, but I'm already minimizing my processed foods and exercising regularly. *shrug*

I'm female and I care.
I will try to remember this in the fuzzy future when I'm dealing with similar issues. I shall come to you, oh Wizard oh Wise One, to ask how to survive.

You know the first thing both my doctor and the pharmacist said? "How old are you?... Oh, you are too young for this!" *sigh* I wish you more average tendencies. Being an outlier sometimes sucks.

Thank you for the good wish!

Yeah, and being a talented-normal is just fine sometimes - like last week, with the anaphylaxis. "Look! I'm red and hot!" *shot of epinephrine* "Look! I'm not red and I'm cold now." ... As I explained more than once, I'm not a fast metabolizer of drugs, just fast off of the initial reaction starting line.
