In a grocery store. Of course I went through the wrong entrance. No signs, no arrows, just a parking lot filled with political signs. I finally found the polling place inside.... And was told "Ma'am, the line is outside."
Joy. And a dose of humiliation. Which really just makes me want to leave. Grrr.
Every year I manage to come in the new Wrong Door. They keep changing it. Just lucky, I guess. That or they do this to throw off people like me.
The line was about 40 people long outside. Where the rain will hit again any second. Very limited shelter. I can only be grateful it is not 95F. 70% humidity, 44% chance of rain.
Joy.
The human who periodically tries to talk us into another voting center says to expect a 45 min wait from the point I got in line. *oh, the joy of doing my civic duty* It's been 25 min.
Joy.
In 5 feet I will be deprived of electronic entertainment.
Joy.
Followup: It took an hour in line. This is my first time to vote on the day because I got tired of being told that they didn't bother to count any of the early voting entries. At least this time I know my actual vote is counted... even if it makes no difference.

Date: 2014-11-04 05:26 pm (UTC)Once in a while our polling place changes from the Ruritan building to the library. And then someone files an ADA complaint (the library is harder to navigate) and they go back to the Ruritan building. So I know to drive to town, drive down the one Main Street, and look for the tiny red and white arrow sign that says "polling place" either at the Ruritan intersection or at the library intersection. From there, there isn't much challenge in knowing where to go. And each one only has one public door.
