Friday! Going home!
Oct. 17th, 2014 09:50 amHome tonight! Well, early tomorrow morning, but I'm sure that somehow counts! I'm really excited. It has only been a week since I've seen my husband, but I still miss him.
This extended trip has had its high points. I guess it was only 8 days, but it was a trip to both coasts in different climates and traveling on 3 unconnected plane tickets for 2 airlines.
The weekend at D's wedding in DC was great. I got considerably less than my absolute minimum of 6 hours of sleep each night (3 consecutive nights) but it was totally worth it. I got to talk to people I do not see enough.
Sunday when I arrived in California, I was a ZOMBIE.
tiger_stripes & husband &
texpenguin & husband were amazingly patient of my incoherance during brunch. And my hunger. Turns out a 6am ET breakfast does not stick to my ribs long enough to prevent Extreme Hunger before 1pm PT. I did not have any traffic accidents Sunday. A fact I am tremendously proud of. I really should not have been driving. Yeah, it turns out 3 days of too-little-sleep makes me an unsafe driver. Also less easily annoyed. Or too sleepy to work up the energy. I probably would have waited another 2 hours for the hotel to give me a room if not for
tiger_stripes & husband telling me that waiting an entire hour well past checkin time was unreasonable.
Teaching this week has been rewarding. Talking to smart people add day is hard on my feet but a joy to watch their eyes light up.
And tonight I get to go home.
....And as I type this, the lights go off in my classroom. I think I'm really tired of California lights being on movement sensors... that don't sense me. I've worked out in the dark (hotel gym turns off the lights in the middle of the workout) and now my classrom is pitch black. *glower at light sensor*
