I'm working 6 hours a day this week. Really!

Among the features of my job is no sick time. Or 100% sick time. See, there is no sick time because we don't have a big enough company to make it official. So if we are sick, we take the time to dothingsI'mleavingoutforyoureyeballs and then get back to work. My boss is really sympathetic and encouraging me to get enough sleep. And I have been monosyllabic on him recently when he asked for early morning meetings....

The doctor says it is flu + food poisoning to flavor my jet lag.

At least the jet lag is mostly under control. *sigh*

No, I don't know what is poisoning me. Since it has been going on for SIX DAYS, I have to think I am continuing to eat whatever it is. I have been eliminating items from my diet. Just pitching them. So far, no good.

I feel like the last two weeks of little sleep, really long hours, and high stress work in the Philippines led me to be susceptible. I get about 1 cold every 2 years in my current healthy lifestyle. When I am actively being prevented from sleep and having trouble eating the right things... Yeah, I get sick. And it doesn't pass in a day or two. Yay, for heavy allergy medication mostly masking the symptoms!

No, I still don't know for sure when I go back the Philippines. Likely in 2.5 weeks. But it could be tomorrow.

So 9 hours sleep two nights in a row. And I'm doing my best to work about 6 hours a day. I only have some insane number of overtime hours logged this year!

But my guilt that the work is still backing up is eating at me. I have looming deadlines, one of which needs to be DONE by the time the next trip to the Philippines happens.

I hope it gets better soon... I cannot imagine your stress. I, too, don't get officially sick often, but I definitely am familiar with the run-down state resulting from insufficient sleep. I have never had to work like you do under the additional stress of jetlag and the impending pressure of more international travel looming... e-Hugs to you!
