Root Cellar
Oct. 27th, 2013 10:44 amJoy can come in strange places.
Last Christmas a friend gave T a Driving Experience at a track near us (near = <3 hour drive under some conditions). T forgot about it for a few months. Then the Summer season hit and it was too hot to consider. So when the weather cooled, he scheduled it. For today.
We cut our Halloween party short last night. We got up early and started driving.... 45 min out from the track, we got a call saying that it would be at least a 2 hour rain delay.
So we drove toward the nearest town and I googled for restaurants. What looked good in the description turned out to be a very old cellar. Steps down to the entrance, old wood floors, thick walls... Local Hot Spot for Sunday morning! The line grew rapidly behind us.
I had bread pudding for an appetizer and kale sweet potato hash with an egg. YUM. Totally worth the bread-and-sugar cost my body is now extracting.
Now back to waiting for a Driving Experience....
