I'm traveling again. I feel like I just did this!! My life is not supposed to resemble ovrclkd's!
My boss bought me a ticket to Canada while I was on vacation in Seattle. Four whole days at home!!!
I can live with the 7am Sunday flight. I can live with no rental car (especIally after last week!) and his plan to drive me around. I plan to bring up his chosen 3 hotels in 3 nights (in the same town, mind you. And HE is not changing hotels!) at every mention of travel for the next year. Plus the hotels are all under his name, so he gets the hotel points. Oh yes, I plan on bringing up his retained diamond status at my expense several times.... I just checked the hotel website. These hotels do NOT have the amenities I would have looked for in a hotel.
My carry-on is half full of food, as if I'm going to India instead of Canada. No independent transportation + no hotel frig + others choosing restaurants/food + others choosing when is "dinner-time" + others' "dinner-time" is too close to sleep = I will be eating a lot of food bars. And watching other people eat. *sigh*

Date: 2013-08-11 02:30 pm (UTC)It's too late for this trip, obviously, but if I were you, I would seriously consider setting some baseline boundaries for future travel. No nightly hotel changes, at a minimum, but I really encourage you to push back on his booking your rooms in his names. That's effectively taking money out of your pocket (in lost points) as well as increasing your travel friction (by denying you status).
And I hope to hell you are expensing your food bars... since that's clearly a travel cost (and much cheaper than actually eating in restaurants, to boot!)
*hug* All that aside, I hope you enjoy Canada!
This time and next time
Date: 2013-08-14 01:49 pm (UTC)Though him checking me in at every hotel was, yes, really creepy. Though he helped by recognizing this and teasing me about it. He told me that he was going to sneak me in the back door with a towel over my head.... Or introduce us as "Mr and Mrs John Smith." Yep, those would have been creepier. No, neither of those happened. I gave my name at the front desk as the person actually residing in the room. As I suspected, they didn't care as long as someone pays for the room.
You are right about the expensing food bars. I will go dig out those receipts.
