I have never had a broken limb. No broken legs, no arms...The closest I ever got was smashing my thumb in a car door. T says, "You were never a little boy, were you?!"
But T? Broken arm (skateboarding), broken thumb with interesting scar (dodgeball), broken collarbone (ultimate frisbee).... And now, a chipped thumb. T is in a cast and out of the workout game for at least 4 weeks or until the cast comes off. Admire his cast!

Date: 2013-05-29 10:05 pm (UTC)Todd was amazed how long I could answer that jury questionnaire question about "ever hospitalized for an injury" with "no". Technically, I can still answer no if I wanna, since I only ever went to urgent care clinics, doctors' offices, and outpatient day surgery centers for my broken elbow...I've never had any stitches outside of surgery either.

Date: 2013-05-29 10:46 pm (UTC)I acquired a hairline fracture in a finger in the seventh grade. Playing soccer. It's not (quite) as nerdly as it sounds--my teacher had a rule where if the ball was up in the air, you were allowed to catch it and then throw it again right away if you didn't run. I mostly stayed out of the action because I didn't want my shins kicked in, but one day the ball came right to me and I raised my hands to make the heroic catch. But instead, the ball just bent one of my fingers back and bounced away.
I also bruised a knuckle from jamming a finger in some sport (ultimate?). (It feels like a broken finger, but it can heal without your having to splint it.)
I've been taken to the hospital for injuries--falling out of my bunkbed and getting a big bump on my head. Twice. This was a little girl injury. But eventually I learned that it was better to leave the stuffed animals on the edge of the bed and risk their falling off than to move them to the wall and risk my falling off. Oh, I also got a knot on my forehead talking to someone behind me and then turning around just in time to connect my face with the edge of a doorway that suddenly appeared.
(I also got a scar on my knee from deciding, when my friend fell down in front of me while we were roller skating, to try to heroically jump over her instead of slam into her. Victory was ours! But I got this scary-looking wound that my mom cleaned up and held together with a bandaid, but she made my wound (and herself) seem cool by telling me that a doctor would probably have given me stitches.)
