Hanging a piece of art across time
Sep. 7th, 2006 01:17 pmTools required for hanging art, 1986:
- My hammer
- My small box of hanging items -- hooks, nails, etc.
- (optional, depending on the height of the item being hung) a chair to stand on
- My hammer (amazingly, still the same hammer)
- My small box of hanging items (also still the same box, now much depleted)
- My small ladder (T insisted that he didn't need one, but I require one to take things on and off of top shelves in the closet. Thus, it is my ladder. He sometimes borrows it.)
- My level (Many gifts of tools, and I couldn't find his level. I'm sure he has at least five.)
- a pencil (for marking on the wall)
- an eraser (for erasing marks on the wall)
- My very nice measuring tape (ordinarily used by my students during classroom activities)
- a calculator
- A pad of post-it notes to write down all of the lengths, widths, measurements, and calculations
