Meetings, meetings, deadlines, the phone rings. A suspicious name (=not a recognizable friend) on the caller id.

Me: Hello?
Him: <a suspiciously long pause> Hello, is Indigo's mom or dad home?
Me: No! My parents are both dead! Thanks SO MUCH for reminding me! Why ON EARTH would you think that you can call me in MY HOUSE and talk to my DEAD PARENTS?!
Him: We thought you were a student. So sorry. <click>

No, I don't usually unload on telemarketers quite this badly. But asking for my parents? REALLY?!

Is it because you sound so youthful? Or were they asked for by name? If the former, just think of it as the phone equivalent of asking for your ID at a bar.
