Why trains are better than planes

1) I can carry all of my luggage on board.
2) No lectures on how my foot space must be clear of luggage.
3) The smallest bottle of wine is huge. 375ml
3) No TSA patdowns or scans.
4) Big windows.
5) Quieter. The engine noise level is much lower.
6) More personal space. Bigger aisles.
7) A regular 3prong 120V plug under the seat.
8) Changing views out the huge windows.
9) No line for the bathroom.
10) Free wireless. Cell phones work.

I love trains! I just wish they were a bit faster... It's hard to justify a cross-country train trip for a four day conference.

11) close, free parking (in Austin, anyway)
12) easy check-in (We just swiped our e-mail print-out, pressed "Print" and had our tickets. The end.)
13) no seatbelts
14) you're always allowed to get up, no matter how bumpy it gets
15) ears don't pop (unless your route has serious elevation changes)
16) observation cars (sometimes), with tables big enough for 4 to play games at
17) dining cars (sometimes) with easy socialization opportunities
18) sleeper cars (sometimes)

Oh, and no TSA bag opening and re-packing or making you remove clothing items or asking questions about your bag contents or the explosives on your shoes (from the volcano show in Vegas) or making you put your film through the X-ray.

And you're allowed to make jokes in the waiting room (even about security issues).

When you say you got a compartment, was that like a private cabin? That does sound nice...

We were riding business class, which I assume got us bigger seats, cup holders, and the electric outlet. I never saw a "regular" car, so I don't know what the cheap seats were like.
