He was worried you wouldn't be able to pick him out of the crowd. He wanted to add an arrow, but I talked him out of it. He is the only one standing!

It turns out that I will do a lot for love. To take this and many other pictures of him, I got a horrible sunburn. If you have spent time with me outdoors, you know I don't. I don't DO sun. I walk in the shade, I sit inside, I avoid the sun at all costs. Evidently... the cost was love. He did seem happy to see me and posed for me. The professional photographer complained that T was posing in the wrong direction (to me, instead of to him).

yes!
Date: 2011-12-30 08:37 pm (UTC)Having learned from our Mediterranean cruise a few years back, we made a list of the things he wanted to do, then I researched how to do them (not through cruise excursions) on our own. It was lovely. Our dinner companions went through the cruise for the tours each day, and I think we had a WAY better time. I hate waiting for 50 other people to get through doing something. This way was better. And we got more time wandering the island alone on each. T got a Hawaiian Lonely Planet guidebook and picked out things for us to see in each island after our big thing for the day.
So, we (1) Took a helicopter ride of the active volcano in Hilo (2) Took a zip line tour in Kauai (3) He took a surf lesson in Maui (4) Wandered and shopped in Honolulu. I'm still recovering from my sunburn, but evidently half a bottle of aloe goo really helps when applied persistently and immediately.
It has been good. And when I read blog entries of other people trying to be grateful for family and time spent with them... I'm grateful to be AWAY from family!
And I'm grateful to be away from work. So grateful! T claims this is the only way to disconnect me these days. ;-)
