Louisiana hates me. At least, that is what my sinuses told me last night. Today Mississippi is no better. I've made serious dents in my kleenex and finally dug out the drugs.
Today as we stopped for gas in MI, there seemed to be a billboard toppled onto the grass by I-10. As we got back on the highway, T read it. A sign, evidently. The high water mark for Katrina.
A mark above our heads, above the truck on the access road, above the gas station we just exited. Mind boggling.
Why are we on a road trip across half of the US? Checked luggage limitations. If they would just let us check the trailer, this trip would be a lot more...well, quick if not pleasant.

Date: 2011-11-22 07:26 pm (UTC)This is actually an interesting contrast to the road trip we took in the early 90s to Ohio. GPS that I just sometimes check on to make sure it isn't steering him some crazy route... $20 yesterday to buy him a book from audible.... So much better than me slogging through Terry Pratchett. Last night I found and reserved a hotel room, then reprogrammed the GPS to direct him there. Quite pleasant....
You said "what," not why.... ;-)

Date: 2011-11-22 07:45 pm (UTC)Oh, and I can't even imagine putting the words "Terry Pratchett" and "slogging" in the same sentence...I fly through Pratchett novels, even when I'm reading them aloud to Todd. The stories, for me at least, are terribly engaging and amusing that I'm eager to keep reading to get to that next clever pun or satirical allegory. They have a lovely cadence when read aloud too. We've got his newest book at home that I'm just itching to read, but we're in the middle of Throne of Fire AND One of Our Thursdays is Missing, so we need to finish at least one of those before we start on another...
