Airport bathrooms

Then why do bathroom stalls open inward?
Todays bathroom fail had no lid on the toilet. Which became important when my water bottle took a dive as I tried to edge my body into the stall. After considerable effort and ingenuity, I decided it was humanly impossible to fit my carryon into the stall without a crane.
I had a brief vision of an actual handicapped person attempting to fit their wheelchair inside... No. Chance.
