A weekend without yardwork
Oct. 9th, 2017 09:41 amOur weekends for months have been filled with yardwork. Grueling filthy sweltering yardwork. Friday night as we were going to sleep, T asked what my thoughts on how we would spend the weekend. He looked so tired. So very very tired of yardwork. Plus he did two days of mowing the yard while I was gone. Our mid-chest weeds are now down to mostly knee or ankle level. So I proposed that we NOT do yardwork.
So we did no yardwork. It was... nice.
T has been setting up bookshelves on an under-utilized wall in his office. Half Elfa from Container Store (which only goes to about 4 feet from the floor because our ceilings are so high). He bought 2 short bookshelves from IKEA this weekend and rearranged everything to make it fit. I took the older shelves he previously used to the Away Room and started unpacking textbooks. Those shelves cannot truly handle my heavy textbooks, but I managed to at least unpack 3 boxes.
I painted a guest bath wall repair. T mopped, vacuumed. We both did dishes and went grocery shopping. T hung a recent purchase of mine from lifemaderooted. I LOVE her work. When I grow up as an artist, I want to BE her. But for the moment, I can be happy every time I see her paintings in my house.
T is clearly dreaming of the day when every weekend can be like this. I crushed that futile dream like the wrecking ball of reality that I personify.... but I did say that perhaps someday it could be every other weekend.
