I'm back home now. Yay, home!

So T joined me in Paris last Friday. When I got to the hotel room after work, there was a lego minifigure package on my pillow. Lego just came out with Series 17. The figure was a Frenchman. Because, Paris!

Saturday morning, the figure was a chef, with pie and whisk. Saturday we went to see the Arc de Triomphe and the view of Paris off a mall roof. On the roof, T suggested that Sunday we should bring the lego figures with us, and take pictures with them. Hey, a Frenchman in Paris! It would be awesome.

Sunday morning he gave me fairy butterfly figure. I packed up the frenchman and the chef and off we went to see the Eiffel Tower. Silly pictures, yes!!

Monday it was a vet. We went to see Notre Dam.

Tuesday we took a fast train to Belgium to see my college friend R. It was a lego elf princess, with sword and shield. It was fantastic to see R. She gave us a brief tour of Brussels before letting us go explore while she went to a work meeting. We went in search of comic book stores and famous monuments. We managed to see both Pis statues. Tiny things, surrounded by a weird number of tourists. It was kinda cool. I took pictures of the silly tourists.

Here is the chef with some Brussels eclairs. Mine was lemon and basil. Basil!

Then R took us to her absolutely enormous house (even by US standards!). I swear every time I would think I'd seen the whole house, she would open a door and I would realize there was yet another room. One time it was an ENTIRE FLOOR. It was mindboggling. And gorgeous. It was newly remodeled. We talked base and case. And flooring. They had truly lovely flooring. I really liked the transition points in the house. The changes in flooring and ceiling height to transition between rooms that were otherwise open to each other... *sigh* It is a great house.

The Wednesday lego was a repeat, the butterfly fairy. Which I packed for the day along with the elf princess. R took us on a tour of Antwerp, which involved local food. Yum. And then she drove us to Brug, which several of my students had told me I HAD to visit.

And then Thursday we flew home. I cannot convey how happy I am to be home. At last I can unpack and not repack at the same time! I can buy food, because I am actually going to be here to eat it! Exciting stuff.
