Week 2: Ohio
May. 29th, 2017 07:45 amI left home at 4:45am to catch my flight. When I arrived at the airport, I discovered that it is delayed. And the hour delay is almost precisely the length of my layover. I called American (not an easy feat, as modern airlines hide their phones numbers, but I keep phone numbers of every airline I fly in a text file.... You will not hide from me!). No explanation on the delay. The plane is here. But they are holding a seat for me on the 6:20pm out of my connection. Instead of 3 hours earlier than my coworkers, I will arrive 3 hours later. No chance to pick up food at a grocery store. And my coworkers will insist on a meeting before we meet the customer (which is a good idea, but means more sleep lost).
I HATE flying. Inconsistent. Arbitrary changes. The 6 hours I spend waiting in airports is no problem for THEM! Garr. And now I'll be exhausted for teaching tomorrow, no matter what I do.
I'm tired now.
Update: I landed in Chicago with enough time to make my flight if I ran. So I ran. To discover reports of my next flight being on time was a lie.
