more splash blocks!
Jan. 23rd, 2017 03:09 pmI felt like the quintessential Texas woman today. I am wearing a plaid flannel shirt and brown cargo pants (I was cold this morning!). I put on my (very dirty) hike books to take T's sturdy truck to pick up concrete splash blocks. The only thing I lacked was a knife and a some sort of other obvious tool sticking out of a pocket.
Yes, I found a source for splash blocks! At last! Not Lowe's or Home Depot -- there are no concrete splash blocks within a 100 mile radius (yes, I checked). A guy at Home Depot told me to call Acme Brick. I called them this morning. They said they had none, but to try Sutherby's (which does not exist on the internet in an spelling I could find) and gave me a number. They said they did not have any, but to try Austin Tile and Fence. Austin Tile and Fence said... yes. They had 19 in stock.
So I got to say things like "Where would you like me to pull my truck around to?" And then I pulled out my work gloves from the back seat (really likely T's, but you get the idea) to help put the splash blocks in the back. Roar!
