We didn't sleep in, but I woke with no headache this morning. Hydration is my new mission! Plus I really loved the cabin. Wish we could have stayed longer.
We flew to Tromso.
( I don't think I've been on such a small plane in a really long time. )We took a bus to near our hotel. It was a challenge figuring out when to get off and what direction to walk. T was wonderful, finding the path. The hotel said, "take a taxi." The bus driver made no annoucements. T had offline Google maps. Did you know you can do that?
It turns out that Tromso is a mountain covered in partially melted snow. If you translated that as "full of slippery slopes," you are correct. R fell multiple times trying to get into our apartment/hotel. The hotel guy clearly felt terrible and cut stairs in the ice that helped us all. R fell at least twice immediately in front of him! And maybe more times that I didn't personally see. Well, at least for that section of the city. I took advantage of the new ice stairs on every entry to the apartment.
T&txpenguin, not knowing that we would see lights last night, booked us all on a chasing lights tour. Leaves Tromso in a bus at about 6pm and returns at about 1am.
What is -10C? Yeah. Cold. No lights visible to the naked eye, but txpenguin got some very nice pictures she will share. My camera is the wrong kind for taking pictures of the northern lights, visible to the naked eye or not.
( This is our guide's picture. It was never this bright to my eyes. )But there was hot chocolate and cookies.
