The Tablet
Jan. 22nd, 2012 01:38 pmYou may know that T is a tech geek. I've met bigger ones, but he is up there. He constantly wants the coolest, newest tech thing.
I have been dubious about getting a tablet. Isn't it just a phone with a bigger screen and no phone service? But last May he got one. A Motorola Xoom, if you care.
It grew on me. Robo Defense really is better on the big screen. And packing it for our cruise last May instead of a full laptop was... convenient.
But that was 8 months ago. Tablets have gotten thinner and grown in memory. For a week or so, T has been sending me links to the Asus Prime. The docking station is a big draw. So I'm thinking, "We wouldn't be sharing any more, and that keyboard is lovely... Valentine's Day!" He asked what color I like.
Yesterday he dragged me to Frys and picked one out. Then he said those bewildering words, "We need to talk about who is going to be primary user." Wait. What? You mean this is NOT my Valentine's Day gift?! Oh. Right. He wants the newest, coolest tech thing.
What do I really want? Happily, I just want a tablet to be a bit more mine. To be available when I want it. The Xoom is totally fine with me. Which means both of us can be happy.
So be sure to admire his new toy next time you see him!
