Sep. 2nd, 2008 02:00 pmWe went on a tour to Ephesus, St John's Basilica, and the Virgin Mary Shrine. I only mention it so I Never Have To Go Again.
It isn't that it is a bad tour... The carved stones at the Basilica were cool, and the view was spectacular.
It amuses me that I finally come to (one of?) the country where they worshiped my namesake with a temple, and it is so heavily Christian that all of the old places they take us to are for the more recent religion.
OK, I take that back. I got to see my temple in Ephesus. Ephesus had some pretty awesome views. Nice library. Yes, the kind of pictures that bore others, so I'll probably make them my screen savers if I can convince Vista the Terrible to do my bidding.
Just before we returned to the ship, we were shoved into a rug factory tour. They softened us up with food and wine. I recognized many things from my Indian rug-buying experience several years ago, including outrageous prices. I managed to drag T out having not purchased anything. Yay, me! Yay, lighter luggage!
