My very nice engineer friend (in Taiwan) took me out to dinner with his wife.  This restaurant turned out to be right next to the ocean.  So fresh that we went walking to see it (the ocean, not the live food) after dinner.

I  asked him if this was a typical meal.  He said "Yes."  Totally ordinary.

I don't like lobster.  Not that I DISlike it, it just doesn't taste good enough to me to merit the effort of getting it out of the shell.  Until this one.  Oh. My. God.  It was AMAZING!  Now I'm going to still not eat lobster, but just because nothing else can measure up.

If you are looking at the picture and think the center plate looks like mini-octipi?  Yeah.  They are.  Ugh.

.... And yes, now I'm hungry again.  Dammit!

I had lobster like that once -- my parents shipped it to us directly from Maine for our anniversary one year. Most of the lobster I've had has been only OK -- tasty enough, but I'd rather have snow crab -- but this was INSANELY WONDERFUL.

Not sure what makes the difference. I'd say freshness, but most restaurants keep the lobsters alive until you order them. There's sure something, though.

I love mini-octopi! I actually find those rather tasty...not on a par with lobster, mind you, but still pretty darn good. That entire photo looks incredibly yummy. It's after eleven pm here, I probably shouldn't be thinking about anything else to eat right before going to bed.

We'll be glad to hear when you make it back to Texas!
