Toilet paper

One of the (many) things my hotel lacked when I arrived was a proper roll of toilet paper. There was about 1/5 of one roll and perhaps a 1/3 of a second roll. Arriving on Saturday night, I thought these might get me to Sunday morning, but not much longer. *sigh*
My short list of must-haves today (food, water, internet access...) included getting more toilet paper. I tried to encourage them to service the room while I went out for my adventure, but evidently the "Service Room" light is one of the many things that does not work when the key is not in the card slot by the door. *roll eyes at utter stupidity of their system*
Back from my adventure, I knew that the room attendant would get around to me eventually. He did not knock or ring the doorbell before opening the room (note to self: BIG bag in front of the door before I go to sleep...). He was startled to find me looking at him patiently from the desk.
I told him that the room was fine, no towels, I just want rolls of toilet paper. "Two, please!" I called to his retreating back. Instead of pulling them from his cart, he went into another hotel room. He came back with 1/3 of a roll. "Um... I'm going to need more." He indicated he would come back later with them. He asked me again about servicing the room and I body-blocked him in the doorway. "No, just the toilet paper. Everything else is fine."
*Explanation of the nature of my reaction to travel, strange foods, and my risky hotel breakfast this morning excluded to spare your delicate sensibilities. I'm sure you can fill in the details on why I want more toilet paper. Include "no kleenex in room" as an additional reason.*
Seriously?! What is there, a shortage of toilet paper?!
[Later: He delivered a brand new, never pulled open roll. It is 1/3 the size of an American roll of toilet paper. I am flummoxed. Maybe they don't...?]
